In Egypt, a national project related to the extension of potable water coverage area is under progress. It is a project called “The National Project for 240 Villages” aiming at increasing potable water supply coverage from 95 % to 100 % by implementing the potable water coverage for 240 villages deprived from potable water. The specific content of this project are, renewing existing water supply and treatment facilities, erection for the piping system and all related accessories required to connect to individual houses, and construction of high water storage tanks, etc..

The total project cost is 2 billion Egyptian Pounds (approximately 360 million US Dollars), partially financed by the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development and the rest by Investment Bank.
